Blogging is a bit of a double edged sword for me. On the one hand, complaining makes me feel better. It can help me work through my pain and anger to help me solve my problems. It can put things into perspective. Make my problems seem smaller, more trivial… possibly even pointless.
But, there is a dark side to blogging. Blogging about nothing but pain and anger can lead someone to wallow in pity. There is moments in time I did just that, and my life and the lives of those close to me suffered as a result of my actions.
Likewise, blogging about fear can help one overcome fear. Same with blogging about shame and guilt and all other negative emotions. But blogging about nothing but negative emotions can lead to a mindset of negativity. Also, blogging (or any other form of venting) doesn’t fix the problem at hand. It merely puts things into perspective. If I want to solve my problems… then I must take action. The same is true for everyone else.
Therein lies another critique I have of the manosphere. It is consumed by pain and anger. It is ruled by grief and guilt and shame. Fear and hatred are its currency.
Do not get me wrong. Having a place on the net that deals with nothing but men’s issues is truly fantastic. I’ve learned quite a deal from many different blogs. But… the negativity. The constant hopelessness.
It’s like the majority of men are waiting for a miracle, something to bring back the hope in their life. Hope does not spontaneously come into existence… it is created.
I understand the pain and the anger that comes from the men on the Manosphere. I have felt it. And I am guilty of having had a hand in the creation of this sense of hopelessness. Just look at some of the posts I made that are nothing but rants.
I am a man. If my whole world is falling down and burning to the ground… then I stand tall. I pray to God and march to overcome that which ails me. God gave me power to act in this world… the same power that he granted you.
